French
At Higham Ferrers Junior School, it is our intent to give pupils the opportunity to learn two different languages by the end of Key Stage 2: French and British Sign Language. Children will have the opportunity to listen to, read and write French as well as learn about French culture and traditions - being able to compare and contrast them to life here in Britain. As well as this, during the summer term, pupils will be taught elements of British Sign Language (BSL) to promote inclusion, communication skills and awareness of the Deaf community. It is our aim that pupils enter Key Stage 3 with some experiences and an appreciation for learning new languages which provides the foundation for learning further in secondary school.
