RE
Religious Education Curriculum Statement
Intent
At our school, Religious Education (RE) aims to help pupils explore, understand, and respect the rich diversity of beliefs, values, and traditions that shape our world. Our curriculum encourages curiosity about faith and worldviews, fostering empathy and critical thinking. Through the chosen units, we provide balanced coverage of major religions — Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam — and non-religious worldviews such as Humanism.
We intend for pupils to:
- Develop knowledge and understanding of different religions and worldviews.
- Reflect on their own beliefs, values, and experiences.
- Recognize shared human questions about meaning, purpose, and morality.
- Learn to live respectfully and harmoniously in a diverse society.
Our RE curriculum aligns with the new 2025 SACRE Northamptonshire agreed syllabus and ensures progression from understanding key beliefs and practices to exploring deeper philosophical and ethical questions in upper Key Stage 2. All units are taught through the disciplinary lenses Theology , Social Sciences and Philosophy. We are also invited visitors of different faiths to speak with the children to enhance their understanding of different worldviews.
